Planning for a wedding can be stressful, and no matter how well you try, things can be forgotten. One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard from wedding guests and wedding parties is that they didn’t get to eat. Timing can sometimes keep people from getting the opportunity to eat, and that can be tragic. Here are three ways to make sure food is not an issue at your wedding.
1. Set up your wedding party with their own cocktail hour
Tell me if this scenario sounds familiar: You’re in a wedding. You get up at the crack of dawn to begin the process of getting everything ready from your hair and makeup to making sure every last minute detail is finalized for the bride. There are a few mimosas at the salon and possibly a bagel to go with them, but the next thing you know, it’s 3:00 and you’re lining up to walk down the isle.
After the wedding, you’re whisked off for photos (which take at least an hour) and you’re slowly realizing that your opportunity to grab a snack from the cocktail hour is slipping away. You’re starving, and the next chance for you to eat isn’t for another two hours after the reception begins.
Don't let this happen to you! Make sure you have a spread set up for your wedding party so they're taken care of too!
2. Schedule to have your photos taken BEFORE the wedding
I know, I know – the bride and groom aren’t technically supposed to see each other until after the wedding. But this is a tradition that is slowly fading – and mostly due to the timing factor mentioned above. If you’re ok with breaking this old tradition, it will ensure you don’t miss out on the cocktail hour and there will be no need for rushing. Plus, there’s less time for hair and makeup to get ruined while possibly sweating through the ceremony.
3. Ensure there is food set up for your guests after the party
Here’s another big one that people forget: after the reception, people are hungry. Make sure to work with your venue to have after party refreshments available. At Airlie, we have a Late Night Eats menu that would be a great addition to your overall package.
